For New Zealand Employers

What do I need to do if I want to employ non-New Zealand citizens in my business?

There are other visa options so check with us first.

How do I know if someone can work in New Zealand?

You may be able to use VisaView to confirm someone’s work rights in NZ. Visit http://www.immigration.govt.nz/employers/resources/visaview/

I have employees that don’t have New Zealand passports and I need them to work short term in Australia.

Subclass 400 is normally the most appropriate visa to apply for if your employee’s intention is to complete short term, highly skilled work in Australia. However, it does not suit every situation and we highly recommend that you discuss the details of the visit with us before applying for this or any type of visa.

Please note: An ETA or eVisitor allows for business activities – for example, a conference, to receive training, or a business meeting, but does not allow work.

The special category visa or 444 visa allows a NZ citizen to live a work in Australia as long as they are not considered to be of health or character concern. However, this visa will not normally lead to residency. Recent changes announced may allow certain 444 visa holders who meet the criteria to apply for Australian residency after July 2017. In the meantime, NZ citizens can apply for residency just like any other nationality.

If you are considering making the move to Australia, it’s best to check your residency options with us first.
